beach café in portugal
three beach cafés are being built along the atlantic coast in portugal, constructed using timber frame construction. a modular system was developed to meet the climatic and topographical conditions. special connections enable various designs to be realized with a single structure. these connections were designed as versatile elements to optimize production costs. the wooden components are mostly fabricated in the workshop and then assembled on-site in portugal. the construction combines load-bearing, stiffening, and space-enclosing functions within a single module. a closely spaced rib structure made of timber studs is covered on both sides with wood-based panels, with the gaps filled with insulation material. the studs and panels are joined with butt joints. a front-mounted frame for sailcloth provides protection from overheating. technical details are deliberately emphasized and harmoniously integrated into the geometric design to also ensure aesthetic appeal.
